ABIVA STATEMENT OF POLICY

For over eight (8) decades, Abiva Publishing House, Inc. (APHI) has dedicated itself to producing quality instructional resources that empower learners to be nation builders and global leaders. With the advent of the digital age, we extend the same dedication while observing means to protect and respect your right to privacy as clients.

In this Privacy Policy, you will understand how we collect, use, retain, share, and dispose of your personal data when you manually or electronically provide it to us whenever you use our products and/or services. This Privacy Policy also applies to other APHI products and services that do not have their own policies as yet. We recommend that you regularly review this policy as this is subject to change to reflect updates in our data security measures and policies in compliance with the requirements of the Data Privacy Act (DPA) of 2012, its Implementing Rules and Regulations, other applicable laws for processing of personal data, and other issuances of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).

COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL DATA

We collect and use your personal data for documentation and processing purposes as you avail of our products and/or services. Every time we do so, we will let you know exactly what personal data we are collecting and its legitimate and business purposes. We will not collect any information beyond what we require. We will only collect the personal information that is required to process your requests and/or concerns.

All information collected will be protected using safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data.

STORAGE OF PERSONAL DATA

All collected personal data is stored by APHI via local network/server and recordkeeping system. Original data is stored in both print and digital formats to ensure access to complete and accurate inventory of collected personal data at any time.

SHARING OF PERSONAL DATA

The collected personal data may be disclosed to officers and employees of APHI, its affiliates, or third parties hired by APHI; disclosure or transmittal of which shall be strictly for the purposes of your business transaction with APHI. Appropriate measures are implemented to protect its confidentiality.

APHI will never share your personal data with external parties unless we obtain your consent or we are otherwise required or allowed by law to do so.

RETENTION AND DISPOSAL OF PERSONAL DATA

We keep your personal data for a period of six (6) months to three (3) years from the date of request or until the purpose of its collection expires. In some instances, we may have to keep your personal data for a longer period of time when necessary as long as it remains to serve its legitimate business purposes.

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

We secure and protect your personal data with appropriate safeguards to ensure its confidentiality and availability, to prevent unauthorized use, and to comply with the requirements of the law.

To detect and mitigate the threats to information security and data privacy, we have implemented appropriate organizational, physical, and technical controls, such as the following:

  • Regular review of our collection, processing, storage, retention, and disposal practices, including physical and electronic security measures to guard against unauthorized access to our network and systems
  • Mandated confidentiality among our authorized employees, contractors, and other external parties who may process your personal data

Right to be Informed
You have the right to be informed of how and why we collect and process your personal data, where we collected it, with whom we share it and why, how we protect it, how long we keep it, and how we dispose of it. You have the right to access, and, upon demand, to request for a copy of any personal data that we hold about you as well as to ask to correct if you deem necessary.

Right to Data Portability
You have the right to obtain a copy of your personal data in a structured and commonly used format that allows you to use your own data subject to APHI’s transfer policies and procedures.

Right to Erasure or Blocking
You have the right to suspend, withdraw, or order the blocking, removal, or destruction of inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, false, or unlawfully obtained personal data or personal data not necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, and for such other cases provided for in the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Right to Damages
You have the right to be indemnified for any damages sustained due to inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, false, unlawfully obtained, or unauthorized use of your personal data.

We will conduct regular internal data protection reviews to confirm our fulfillment of our privacy commitments. Furthermore, we will comply with the requirements of DPA, its Implementing Rules and Regulations, other applicable laws, and other issuances of the NPC.

We will limit the personal data we collect from you, either in processing your issues and/or concerns, and we will provide reasonable protection to safeguard your data.

End-to-End -Security
We will provide appropriate security throughout the entire process of getting your data. This ensures that all data is securely retained and is subsequently destroyed at the end of the process in a timely fashion.

Children’s/Students’ Privacy
We will ensure that the collection, access, and use of children’s/students’ information are appropriate in all given circumstances and are compatible with applicable laws.

Accountability and Enforcement
All responsible person/s or entities will be accountable for ensuring that the stated privacy principles are met.
